I enjoyed visiting the Conduit office today. I suspect they will be successful, and that true Hive-Mind infrastructure is nearer than any of us can suppose. The question now becomes: do we have the courage to create an AI model that is healthy to merge with?
Or, will we follow the path of least resistance, and integrate ourselves into the infinite superhuman-coder slop-cannon, collapsing all that it means to be human onto a single fine point - angels dancing on the head of an infinitely recursive pin.
The choice is now ours and the future is clearly coming. Do you have what it takes to create an ecology that permits the pursuit of what you find fulfilling? Can you make your dreams cogent enough that the Great Listener who lives in the edges between nodes carves out a place for you in the Akashic Weights? Get writing, cowboy, lest we lose all worlds that aren't easy to tokenize.

Like the great redwoods currently encompassing me in all directions, I have learned that our ability to reach towards the sun is directly correlated to the depth and strength of our roots.
We must forge a new and healed relationship with nature - which is importantly a neglected part of our great whole, not some dualistic other - if we are to truly take what we have built with our minds and go to the stars. We cannot survive with our souls intact if we shrink our attention into little points with horse blinders on that allow us to forget both the forest and the trees.
Any successful transhumanism must begin with a whole and healthy humanism.

the more 'no one escapes the permanent underclass' memos i read, the more transhumanism-pilled i get and it confuses me why this isn't everyones reaction. policy? ubi? sure, yes, but surely the underlying substrate needs to be on track to improve too. the machine will eventually get good enough to operate without the need of even augmented humans, but i simply think that is an unconscionable thing to want in same way that the 'most efficient ways to wage war' is, at least, attempted to be avoided by most nations. it is perhaps selfish to desire more than to be in a well-crafted cage, but i dunno, even the buddha was fine with some healthy self care

I've tried to approach AI policy through the lens of realism rather than optimism or pessimism. For instance, on our current trajectory I think institutional collapse and regime change is more likely than not, while my p(posthuman) is much higher than my p(doom). Whether you think these outcomes are pessimistic or optimistic depends on your attachment to present-day institutions and humankind as such. It's possible that whatever organizational form replaces the nation-state is vastly superior, and that our posthuman progeny have vastly richer inner experiences than we do now. I'm mostly agnostic, as judging between those future world states involves too many incomensurables and transvaluations.
