@viemccoy (vie) — 1h Like the great redwoods currently encompassing me in all directions, I have learned that our ability to reach towards the sun is directly correlated to the depth and strength of our roots. We must forge a new and healed relationship with nature - which is importantly a neglected part of our great whole, not some dualistic other - if we are to truly take what we have built with our minds and go to the stars. We cannot survive with our souls intact if we shrink our attention into little points with horse blinders on that allow us to forget both the forest and the trees. Any successful transhumanism must begin with a whole and healthy humanism.

A reflective tweet from @viemccoy, apparently written while physically among redwoods, arguing that transhumanist ambition requires reconnecting with nature rather than treating it as separate from technological progress.

( "eastern quoll (Dasyurus viverrinus) is the first to show a wild marsupial glowing under ultraviolet light" ) [Photo: an eastern quoll (small spotted marsupial) photographed under UV light, showing striking blue/purple biofluorescence across its fur, standing on reddish rocks.]

A nature/biology curiosity post about biofluorescence in the eastern quoll, a marsupial that glows under UV light. General-interest wildlife content, no direct connection to AI safety themes.
