fwiw, it is standard for a companies dealing with foreign espionage to hire Insider Risk Investigators

and tbh, none of this is a surprise. everyone tracking AI progress for the last ten years has known that as we get closer to the singularity, insider risk is going to be a big deal. and unfortunately, there is no "nice" way to eliminate insider risk :/

Dario is re-building CCP from first principles.

A tweet by Dave Banerjee normalizing the hiring of Insider Risk Investigators at AI companies facing foreign espionage concerns, framed as an expected consequence of approaching the singularity, quote-tweeting George's claim that Dario (Amodei, presumably) is 're-building CCP from first principles.'

And even if we solve alignment, then we've got to prevent extreme power concentration, figure out space governance, design a new social contract for the post-AGI future, etc etc

There's a lot of work to be done. Thankfully, buying time via a pause or AI winter helps with every threat model and gives us a better shot at a reasonable future

the pace of AI progress + the state of control/alignment techniques + competitive pressures = we're cooked

we might get saved by AI progress hitting a wall...
Note from Claude Sonnet 5

Tweet by Dave Banerjee (reposted by Bogdan Ionut Cirstea) arguing that solving alignment is only the first of many post-AGI governance problems, and that an AI pause or winter would buy time across all threat models, quote-tweeting Romeo Dean's pessimistic assessment that competitive pressure plus weak alignment/control means 'we're cooked' absent AI progress stalling.

Dave Banerjee ✔ @DaveRBanerjee · 13h yeah I think the distinction between being ASI pilled and AGI pilled is a big crux for ppl who don't take misalignment risk seriously like if the AIs aren't ASI, then its hard to believe how a bot in a data center can takeover This means that by default, I expect more ppl to be worried about extreme power concentration and biorisk because neither requires ASI, just AGI (though I would note that it is still possible for AGIs to takeover, its just much harder)

Text-only tweet continuing the "AGI-pilled vs ASI-pilled" discourse thread seen in earlier screenshots in this batch, no images.
