Lot's of software is inherently adversarial. Take YouTube for example. The algorithm hill-climbs on user engagement metrics, which is often not aligned with human values.

In light of this, I vibe coded a wrapper around YouTube that's designed exactly how I want it to maximize my utility

Will be sharing more details soon but I'm generally excited for the future where I can create bespoke software to overcome all B2C SaaS misalignments

I've been using an app called Forcefield that does this. It's pretty good, and very good at blocking the content I don't want, but I don't think Haiku (or Qwen, or the other small AIs that often power it) really understand my preferences deeply enough to recommend stuff

Two stacked dark-mode tweets: Dave Banerjee on vibe-coding a personal YouTube wrapper to escape engagement-optimizing algorithms, and Michael Soareverix replying that the Forcefield app does this but small models like Haiku or Qwen don't understand his preferences deeply enough to recommend.
