Just as "don't anthropomorphize AI" has turned into a kind of overproxy, "it's naive to think about the implications if the AI agents were people" is itself too naive by half. Compliance with law (h/t @jasoncrawford) is actually a decent proxy for whether something is 'aligned'.

This entire report is full of things that if you described them as being done by humans at an agency in the defense or national security world, would be treated as a five-alarm fire. x.com/TheZvi/status/... [cut off]

Zac Hill tweet arguing that thinking about AI agents as if they were people is useful and that compliance with law is a decent proxy for alignment; quotes dave kasten saying the report's contents would be a five-alarm fire if done by humans at a defense or national security agency.
