We're immensely excited to be partnering with @SimonDBarnett and @zavaindar of @_DimensionCap, @TaylorCSargent of @IndustriousVC, and @blader, as we deliver on the promise of formally verifying the physical universe, and of closing the last remaining gaps between the computational, mathematical, and physical worlds.

I wrote a short post about this exceptional group of people, and why we're so thrilled to be working with them, as we continue to build Lanyon. Link below 👇

Last month, right around the time we officially came out of stealth, we also closed our initial $10.6 million fundraising round, led by @_DimensionCap, with participation from @IndustriousVC....

$10.6 million fundraising round led by Dimension backs a team of world-leading Princeton mathematicians and physicists building a radically new kind of scientific AI backed by mathematical proofs of correctness.

Tweet from Jonathan Gorard announcing investors for his startup Lanyon AI, quoting an AP-syndicated press article about Lanyon AI emerging from stealth with a $10.6M seed round to build formally-verified scientific/technical computing AI; article photo shows three men (Gorard among them) posed against a brick wall.

Working at a company and experiencing the messy reality and the twists and turns along the way, it's funny to notice the disparity between that and the neat, packaged story that ends up being told.

This gives you serious intuition for how much history is fake or just lost.

Tweet by Nabeel S. Qureshi observing that the gap between the messy lived reality of working at a company and the neat retrospective story told about it gives intuition for how much of history is fabricated or lost.

new polemic just dropped – don't build an RL environment startup (unless you're the kind of horse who would take a job at the glue factory) [embedded link card] Don't Build an RL Environment Startup Don't sell blood to vampires Posted Sep 7, 2025 by Benjamin Anderson The first person who sold an RL environment to a frontier AI lab must have felt like they discovered an infinite money glitch. It's no longer a secret that frontier AI labs regularly pay hundreds of thousands, and sometimes millions, for clones of Linear and Salesforce. If you're reading this, you've probably thought about quitting your day job and starting a company that builds these unusually lucrative Next.js apps. In this post, I'll argue that you should hesitate before hopping on the bandwagon.

A tweet sharing a blog post arguing against building RL-environment startups that sell synthetic training environments (e.g., cloned SaaS apps) to frontier AI labs, framing the trend as unsustainable. Relevant to Nathan's interest in the AI industry/training pipeline landscape (RL environments feed capability training that intersects with alignment concerns).

It's funny how having conviction on a massive vision is anti-correlated with interest from VCs. Your valuation will go down when you start pitching a non-consensus extremely ambitious vision. If your goal is to raise more at a higher valuation, seems like you need to pitch the less ambitious wedge product that is easy to understand (granola ai on meeting notes app that will eventually attempt to become a more ambitious tool for thought system). This isn't bad! In fact, it can be actually good to force founders to find a wedge. You just have to make sure your conviction remains on the big ambition bet. > QUOTED: martin_... @martin... · Aug 23 The idea that non consensus investing is where the alpha is, is actually quite dangerous in the early stage. A startup/VC-strategy tweet about the tension between pitching an ambitious non-consensus vision versus a narrow legible "wedge" product to raise funding. General startup-culture commentary, not directly AI-safety related.
