I have made a correct guess: AI companies would try to recognise which user is a Mathematician.
Still not knowing that you're indeed the fish seeing the bait, thinking there're benefits for you, only to finally be caught by the fishermen?

Talking to different mathematicians working with #ChatGPT in the last months, we noticed two things that were true for all of us:
1. it's basically impossible to run out of tokens. Every time we approached the limits we got free/automatic usage resets and could keep going.
2. We all got access to GPT-6 astra on the first day, when influencers and podcasters still reported of some staggered release and that they did not have it.
Given everything that happened last week, the picture looks very much like #OpenAI knowing exactly who is a mathematician and making sure they use their system as much as possible.

A colleague just told me the problem he spent the most time on was solved by AI. The argument is only 3 pages, but he cannot even get himself to read it because he feels he can no longer contribute.
A crisis of meaning is coming, first for (many) mathematicians, then for others.

Seeing what is happening on the frontlines, I would say this: if we humans want to keep understanding the knowledge AI is producing at the current rate (new proofs, ideas, and approaches) we may need 10× more mathematicians within the next year than we have today.

i used to work in nonprofit and lemme tell you -- there is a disturbingly dark aspect of it which generates charities that exist not to solve the problems they are dealing with, but to perpetuate them in order to ensure that the people running said charities have lifetime employment and feel meaningful

Mathematicians are awesome people, I narrowly escaped being one. I love them dearly and I hope they take joy in all the cool new math and new opportunities, rather than despair. And obviously no one should be mean to them right now even if they need some copium.

people are incredibly mean to mathematicians in this time. they really relish when an ai solves something and frame in a zero sum way w human mathematicians. i think it evens out some childhood era math trauma they have?

We really should just speed run this as a society
everyone who thinks they are "safe" today will just prolong their false hope and increase the dissonance in a few years when it comes
It's just healthier to accept what is coming and understand that the next few[1] years will render every person on the planet obsolete in terms of their cognitive abilities
