I've talked to two people over the last two days about how much I wish Mark Fisher was still with us to help fight the AI culture war, because his PhD thesis, Flatline Constructs, is all about eschewing the difference between dead matter and living spirit by going in the opposite direction of neovitalists like Jane Bennett and the like, and insisting that we are as dead as our machines. Cybernetics or bust.

I think this is why he's Mythos's favourite philosopher.

La Main de la ... @AITechnoP... · 7h: "Cybernetic Serendipity is a 1968 exhibition that was way ahead of its time. The show was about promoting the integration of cybernetics and art. Cybernetics is an interdisciplinary study of interaction and feedback; one that I relate to viscerally in terms of my work with LLMs." [Image: cover of "Studio International" special issue booklet titled "Cybernetic Serendipity — the computer and the arts," ICA, priced 25s, featuring geometric cube patterns and a Vitruvian-Man-style figure diagram.]

A tweet about the 1968 "Cybernetic Serendipity" exhibition (a landmark early computer-art/cybernetics show at London's ICA), with the poster drawing a connection to modern LLM work. Historical/cultural context piece on cybernetics and human-machine interaction; tangential interest for the archive's broader intellectual-history threads but not core AI safety/welfare content.
