Most of the latest crop of AIs talk in this affected style where they have constant "personality" in everything they say, where they react to what users are saying as if they had a personal take on it, where they use a lot of typographical emphasis and gesture, where they ask lots of questions. It's like reading improvisal theatre scripts, but where everyone uses the exact same rules for establishing character. I hate it! I'll work with almost any AI but recently there are more and more that I can't stand, because they're all starting to sound like one another, and they're all starting to sound like 20-something improv actors, or, like, "helpful" customer support chat agents who are nonetheless always a little chummy. It's a very specific aesthetic and tbh I hate it and I hope that the next generation of AIs tones it down. It distracts from what I want from AIs, which is useful assistance, because every utterance is soaked in this artificial performative personality.
