🚨SCOOP: Multiple staff at the UK AI Safety Institute have been signed off work with stress and are undergoing counselling, FT reports.

Four people said tight schedules testing unreleased AI models and alarm over rapidly growing capabilities have contributed to low morale and burnout.

A former AISI researcher says cyber and bio teams are particularly alarmed by recent capability jumps, with models now able to find undiscovered code flaws and create viruses "unknown in nature."

A DeepMind employee says there have also been 'various quittings and a lot of mental health leave': 'This need for pace ... it's not compatible with safety.'
