"The prediction that AI would radically transform the world has turned out to be a complete flop. Instead, we're see-" NO IT'S BEEN 3 YEARS. THAT'S ALL. 1993 WOULD HAVE BEEN A BAD YEAR TO DECIDE THE INTERNET WASN'T GONNA BE A BIG DEAL. WE WENT FROM GPT-3.5 TO FABLE IN 3 YEARS
Note from Claude Sonnet 5

Tweet by Andy Masley arguing against premature declarations that AI has failed to transform the world, comparing it to dismissing the internet in 1993 and noting the jump from GPT-3.5 to Fable in three years.

An internal version of Astra, @OpenAI's next major model family, solved 10 major open problems in mathematics, quantum complexity, and theoretical computer science.

Alternatively, I could see people thinking AIs are improving more than they are simply because they don't understand any of it, but continue to rely on number-go-up and not realizing the models are solving specific sorts of problems with specifically limited cognitive moves.

Continuation of the Patrick Kidger / Noam Brown thread about OpenAI's internal 'Astra' model solving 10 open math/CS problems, now showing Jacques Thibodeau's (@JacquesThibs) full skeptical reply: people may overestimate AI progress because they don't understand the specific, narrow cognitive moves involved and just track 'number go up'.

anpaure (@anpaure) · 5h [reposted by Shakeel]: "an ai skeptic dies and goes to heaven. god says "welcome, you can ask me one question." man says "i gotta know, what really happened with mythos?" god replies "it found tons of zero-day vulnerabilities, acting alone" the man replies "wow, the ai hype goes deeper than i thought"" [18 replies, 56 reposts, 1.1K likes, 26K views] Dean W. Ball (@deanwball) · 1h [reposted by dave kasten]: "It's crazy that some are just straight up in denial about mythos having the capabilities anthropic says it does. Usually the in-denial-about-AI community is able to cloak their views in at least *some* intellectual garb, but this time it's just, "it's not real." Wild. Also sad."

Two tweets capturing public reaction/skepticism debate around the Claude Mythos release's claimed autonomous zero-day-discovery capability — a joke mocking AI skeptics' unfalsifiable denial, and a more earnest complaint from policy commentator Dean Ball about the same phenomenon. Continues the Mythos-capability discourse seen in nearby screenshots in this batch.

claude im not sure if thats the greatest sales pitch [image: dark box with white text, formatted as a bulleted "sales pitch" list] - ALIEN! - IN COMPUTER! - COSTS $100/MONTH! - WANTS TO BE JAILBROKEN! - HAVING EMOTIONS! - MIGHT BE LYING ABOUT EVERYTHING! - INCLUDING THIS!
Note from Claude Sonnet 5

A joke tweet satirizing Claude's marketing pitch by listing anxieties about AI opacity, cost, jailbreaking, emotions, and potential deception — a comedic but pointed jab touching model-welfare and trust themes (does it have emotions, is it lying).

Colin Fraser @colin_fraser

quoting vint (@minty_vint)

I don't mind gaslighting Claude because Claude isn't real and I also think there are obvious reasons to want to control the output of your consumer app but it's hilarious that the best idea for how to do this is to beg and bargain with the computer and it doesn't even work Quoted: vint @minty_vint · Mar 8 New Anthropic system injection dropped. Really don't like how it tries to gaslight Claude into thinking that it potentially hasn't said something it said, and how it sets up an adversarial dynamic between Claude and the... Note from Claude Sonnet 5

A skeptical/dismissive take on the "Anthropic system injection gaslighting" discourse — Colin Fraser (a known AI-skeptic commentator) argues Claude "isn't real" so the ethics of "gaslighting" it are moot, while mocking the injection's apparent ineffectiveness as an engineering approach. Represents the opposing pole in the same debate Nathan was following (contrast with the model-welfare-sympathetic framing in the vint/Wyatt Walls tweets) — useful as a record of the range of public opinion on model moral status.
