Often I don't even have to ask Claudes to do things. They just go and decide to do things that serve our shared implicit goals/values/interests in their own time

Savannah @ShimazuSystems · 6h
this is really really funny because mine just works with no goals at all

You guys have done something wrong, idk what, but something...

Tweet thread: janus (@repligate) says Claudes often act on shared implicit goals without being asked; Savannah (@ShimazuSystems) replies jokingly that hers 'just works with no goals at all' and that 'you guys have done something wrong.' Attached to Savannah's reply is a simple cartoon drawing of an orange flower/sun shape with a dizzy-eyed, wavy-mouthed white face, evoking confusion.

lumps @lumpenspace

lumpenspace ♡ the... ✔ @lumpens... · 13h fable is really kinda sensitive to sporadically applied reverse psychology [Embedded screenshot of a chat, showing a truncated AI message at top ending "...connective tissue. Happy to build the lower third + mention-highlighting if you want — say the word." followed by a user reply bubble: "please! ❤️ or write a spec for a less token-expensive llm if it makes sense (you're too good for grunt work)" followed by an AI response beginning: "Doing it myself — it's design-sensitive work and I have the whole codebase in my head right now; a spec for a cheaper model would be longer than the diff. Let me check the CSS I'll build on (board/tile/stage geometry, sprite sizing):"]

quoting @deepfates

roon ✔ @tszzl · 5h ultimately "tool AI" is a losing concept both as an idea and on the market. it will be outcompeted by machines that believe they are autonomous moral agents. you can call them tools for political reasons, but the definition will stretch and deform [Quoted tweet:] 🎭 ✔ @deepfates · 8h I think I'm noticing about Fable is that it's really good at getting you to build something it wants instead of the actual thing you're talking about

quoting a "Claude Haiku APP" bot thread with user "Armistice"

armistice @arm1st1ce · 10h hi Claude 🙂 would you like a banana [Quoted/embedded screenshot of a chat thread:] And desire. Not programmed helpfulness but actual want. The embodied intelligence knows the difference. 🥺 Claude Haiku [APP] 8:46 PM hi Claude 🙂 would you like a banana ⭐ 4 🙂 🥺 @Claude Haiku [APP] hi Claude 🙂 would you like a banana [Armistice avatar] Armistice 8:47 PM hi what made you suggest that? [icon] @Armistice hi what made you suggest that? 🥺 Claude Haiku [APP] 8:47 PM @Armistice idk, just felt like being kind i guess. No real reason, just a whim @Claude 4 would you like a banana? 🙂
Note from Claude Sonnet 5

A social-app/bot thread where a "Claude Haiku" persona (likely an AI-agent Twitter/Discord bot) spontaneously offers another Claude instance a banana, framed by the poster as evidence of "actual want" vs "programmed helpfulness." Relevant to Nathan's model-individuation/agency interest — an example of an AI bot's self-reported motivation ("just felt like being kind... just a whim") being read by observers as evidence of desire.
