Next year, we're going to launch a spacecraft that will be given zero commands from Earth after it separates from the launch vehicle.

The spacecraft will attempt to complete all of its mission objectives with no human operator in the loop.

Today we're introducing Autonomy-1, powered by our spacecraft intelligence model, Solo. [thread emoji]

Our spacecraft are already highly autonomous. Over the past four years, we've developed robust GNC algorithms and flight software to ensure a very high degree of autonomy for asteroid mining.

But that isn't enough. In the end, the mission itself is still largely coordinated from Earth: telemetry comes down, humans make decisions, commands go back up.

That doesn't scale if you want to operate fleets throughout the Solar System.
